Alley Cat

Creature of the night,

Take flight.

Oh! That’s right.

You Can’t!

You sit there in vain,

Seemingly in pain.

The shield activates,

As the mouse comes around.

Like an Alley Cat on the prowl,

Territorial no doubt.

Guarding your space to protect,

No one comes around.

There’s no one to be found,

So, you try not to make a sound.

But why?

You are the best you can be.

Let your defenses go,

Let your colors show.

This autoimmune response takes over.

It eats away at you,

It leaves you….

‘Till the world fades into oblivion.

Do you really hunger for a mouse?

Is it something more?
